ACROBATIC ARTS
AcroDance is a beautiful fusion of the artistic motion of dance and the athleticism of acrobatics. It is not the same as gymnastics as it does not include the various apparatus such as balance beams and uneven bars used in gymnastics training. Rather, acrobatics is taught to be performed in conjunction with various dance techniques on a hard, flat surface.
Acrobatic skills include flexibility, strength, limbering, balancing, contortion and tumbling. Think of acrobatics as the “dance cousin” of gymnastics.
Dansation follows the Canadian Acrobatic Arts method which is a progression-based syllabus aimed at training participants in a way that is both safe and technically correct.

Acrobatic performances are often evident in the shows by Cirque du Soleil. With endorsements from over 1000 dance teachers worldwide, physiotherapists, Cirque Du Soleil acrobats, and more, Acrobatic Arts is universally recognised as one of the best programs for AcroDance.

MODERN DANCE

Modern dance is an expressive form of dance that began as a rebellion from ballet in the early 20th century. Within a modern class, dancers learn various techniques and ways of moving: from the sharp, upbeat and funky styles of jazz to the softer, more fluid and elegant movements of lyrical.

Modern dance is a fusion of many different dance styles, types of music and tempos – there truly is something for everyone within this style. One of the main benefits of modern dance is that it cultivates versatile dancers.

Classes improve a dancer’s sense of performance, flexibility, rhythm, coordination and style. Modern dance is a great way to express yourself artistically, exercise and have fun.
BALLET

This beautiful genre of dance was invented by King Louis XIV to be performed at a royal wedding during this time. Since its beginnings, ballet has evolved and progressed and gained mass popularity around the world. Ballet is an incredibly elegant form of dance which follows seven main principles:

– Posture & balance
– Turn out
– Moving correctly
– Classical technique
– Transferring weight
– Coordination

Though ballet is a disciplined style of dance, lots of fun can be had in a ballet class and with a variety of benefits such as improved posture and concentration, it is no wonder that this is one of the most popular dance genres around. Not only this, but almost all dance genres performed today have stemmed from classical ballet and thus incorporating a ballet class into your dance training can yield fantastic improvements in your technique within other areas of dance.

TAP DANCE
Tap dancing is a dance style performed wearing shoes fitted with metal taps – it is categorized by spunk, energy, originality and rhythmical tapping of the toes and heels. To the untrained eye, tap dancing is all about fancy footwork and sounds. At Dansation, we aim to teach complete body awareness to produce holistic tap dancers with precision in their steps.
During a tap dance class, students develop musicality, rhythm and timing whilst learning to make music with their feet. Tap dancing is incredibly popular within musical theatre and often seen performed on Broadway and at The West End.
We follow a tap syllabus set out by the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) which exposes the student to a wide variety of music including Celtic, Reggae, Swing and Beat Box through to current radio favourites.
Some of the most influential tap dancers in history include Fred Astaire and Bill “Bojangles” Robinson.
HIP HOP

Hip Hop is currently one of the most popular dance trends globally. It is a funky, streetstyle form of dancing that is loads of fun! Hip hop dancing is seen in many of today’s popular films and music videos.

Hip hop is a more informal style of dance where the rules are bendable and students are encouraged to add their own personalities to the movements.

– Popping
– Locking
– Waacking
– Freestyling
– Funk
– Boogaloo

Dansation takes a recreational approach to Hip Hop classes where students can learn this style of dance in a relaxed, no-pressure environment accompanied by the latest, age-appropriate music and styles.
